The MLCA supports a relief fund to benefit the distressed families and children of commercial lobstermen. The Relief Fund accepts public contributions which are deposited into MLCA’s savings account. These funds are used to support Harvester families throughout Maine in times of need. Donations may also be directed to a specific recipient.

Requests for assistance are handled on a case by case basis. For more information, please contact the MLCA office directly at 207-967-6221.

Fourth annual fundraiser for the MLCA Lobstermen’s Relief Fund! Huge Success!

Cooks Lobster and Ale House, Bailey Island ME was the location for this all-day event last September.  10% of all food purchases  and 100% of the daily specials went directly the Lobstermen’s Relief Fund.  Chef JP Dubois  created mouth-watering specials including a boiled lobster dinner and an herb encrusted chicken. All the specials were created from food donated by lobstermen, farmers and Maine owned companies.  Geary Brewing  once again offered two of their beers with the full price benefiting the Fund. “Pulling Traps” and Cook’s Own “Cribstone Red” on draft were warmly received.  Tito’s Vodka donated $1 for every drink made with Tito’s and thanks to some hearty drinkers, that donation was significant!

Many diners checked out the all-day silent auction stocked with spectacular donations from local restaurants, breweries, artists, inns, Maine boutiques and more! This year auction raised thousands of dollars. It takes a village to care for one another: many thanks to all the fine businesses and all the people who attended for supporting this important cause. You can read more about the 2019 event HERE.

Cook’s Lobster & Ale house is located on scenic Bailey Island, 40 minutes from downtown Portland. The views are spectacular, the company welcoming and the food down right delicious.

The Maine Lobstermen’s Community Alliance is a 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax-deductible.

Moved by the 2016 tragic death of young lobsterman Jon Popham, Cook’s Lobster and Ale House began a yearly event to benefit the MLCA Relief Fund. We are grateful to owners Jenn and Nick Charbonneau for their commitment to Maine’s lobstering communities.
